joinMeetly — Privacy Policy

joinMeetly ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and safeguard your personal information when you use the joinMeetly mobile application (Android and iOS).

1. Information We Collect

• Account Information: Name, phone number, email address, date of birth, and gender that you provide during registration.
• Profile Information: Photos, bio, interests, location preferences, and other details you add to your profile.
• Camera & Microphone: Accessed only when you initiate or accept a video/voice call, take or upload photos, or record a profile video. We do not record or store the contents of voice or video calls on our servers.
• Messages: Text messages and media shared within in-app conversations to facilitate communication between matched users.
• Contacts: If you opt in to the "Find People" feature, we read your address book solely to surface mutual connections. Contact data is hashed on-device before any limited identifiers are sent to our servers; raw contact details are not stored.
• Location: Approximate location to show you relevant profiles and events nearby. We do not track precise GPS continuously.
• Device & Usage Data: Device model, OS version, app version, language, IP address, push-notification token, crash logs, and anonymised interaction analytics used to operate, secure, and improve the service.

2. Voice & Video Calls

joinMeetly offers in-app voice and video calling between matched users. The following describes how the calling feature handles your data:

• WebRTC peer connection: Voice and video media is transmitted as an encrypted (DTLS-SRTP) WebRTC stream that may flow peer-to-peer or through a media-relay (TURN) server when a direct path is not available. Call content is never recorded or stored by us.
• Signalling metadata: To set up a call we exchange signalling metadata (caller ID, callee ID, call type, ICE candidates, session descriptions, ringing/answer/end timestamps) over our authenticated WebSocket and via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for the incoming-call push. This metadata is retained only as long as needed to operate the call and produce call-history records.
• Call history: We keep a record of who you called, when, the call type (voice or video), duration, and final status (completed, missed, declined). You can view and clear this history from the app.
• Foreground services (Android): While a call is active, the app runs Android foreground services that hold the microphone (FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MICROPHONE) and the call session (FOREGROUND_SERVICE_PHONE_CALL) so the call continues if you leave the app. These services stop the moment the call ends.
• CallKit / ConnectionService: On iOS we use Apple CallKit and on Android we use the system Telecom self-managed ConnectionService (via MANAGE_OWN_CALLS) to display the native incoming-call screen. We do not place or read regular telephone calls — joinMeetly never uses CALL_PHONE or accesses your phone number list.
• TURN/STUN servers: When a relay is required, your IP address may be visible to our TURN provider for the duration of the call so it can route the encrypted media. No call content is decrypted at the relay.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To create, authenticate, and manage your account
• To match you with compatible people based on your preferences and location
• To enable real-time chat, voice calls, and video calls between matched users
• To deliver push notifications for matches, messages, incoming calls, and events
• To show you relevant events and groups in your area
• To enforce our community guidelines, prevent fraud and abuse, and ensure user safety
• To analyse aggregated, de-identified usage to improve performance, fix bugs, and plan new features

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share limited data only with the following service providers, solely to operate joinMeetly:

• Cloud hosting: Amazon Web Services (AWS) — application servers (ECS Fargate), database (RDS PostgreSQL), object storage and CDN (S3 + CloudFront) hosted in AWS regions.
• Push notifications: Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) by Google for Android and iOS push delivery, including incoming-call alerts.
• Crash reporting & analytics: Firebase Crashlytics for diagnosing app crashes (anonymised stack traces and device metadata).
• SMS / OTP verification: A third-party SMS provider used to deliver one-time verification codes during sign-up.
• WebRTC TURN/STUN: A media-relay provider used to route encrypted call media when a direct peer connection is not possible.
• Legal: We may disclose information if required by valid legal process or where necessary to protect the safety of users or the public.

5. Data Security

All API traffic is encrypted in transit with TLS 1.2+ (HTTPS / WSS). Voice and video media uses DTLS-SRTP end-to-end encryption between peers. Passwords are hashed with BCrypt. Access tokens expire after 15 minutes and are refreshed via short-lived refresh tokens. Database and object-storage data are encrypted at rest. We follow industry security best practices and continuously monitor for unauthorised access.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account in the app, or by emailing privacy@joinmeetly.com. On deletion, your personal data, profile, messages, and call history are removed from our production systems within 30 days. Anonymised aggregate data may be retained for analytics and legal-record purposes.

7. Your Rights

• Access a copy of your personal data
• Correct inaccurate or outdated data
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Withdraw consent for optional features (contacts, location, microphone, camera) at any time via your device settings
• Object to or restrict certain processing under applicable law (GDPR, India DPDP Act, etc.)

8. Children's Privacy

joinMeetly is intended only for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected such data, we will delete it promptly.

9. Permissions Summary

• Camera, Microphone: for video/voice calls and profile media.
• Photos / Media: to upload profile pictures and chat attachments.
• Location (approximate): for nearby matches and events.
• Contacts: only when you opt in to "Find People".
• Notifications: for matches, messages, and incoming calls.
• Foreground services (Android): microphone + phone-call session, only while a call is active.
• Bluetooth (Android): route call audio to connected headsets.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Effective Date" at the top of this page reflects the latest revision. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email.
